The Canadian-based video game developer, DC Studios, is to establish a base in Ireland, creating 50 jobs.

Announcing the investment, the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, said that it was the country's first overseas investment in software development for video game consoles.

Mr Martin said that the bulk of the jobs, to be created over the next three years, would be for experienced graduates including software programmers, artists, designers and producers.

The IDA-backed development studio is to be located in Dublin's Digital Hub.
