The owner of a McDonald's franchise in Swords in Co Dublin has been fined €1,500 in the Dublin District Court for employing an underage teenager.

Morgan McStay, who employs 40 people at the restaurant in Swords, admitted breaches of legislation on employing teenagers.

A labour inspector had found that a fifteen-and-a-half-year-old boy had worked past 8pm in the evening on three separate occasions.

Teenagers under 16 are not permitted by law to work after that time.
