The biggest statue in Waterford City has been unveiled by Minister Martin Cullen.

The sculpture of Thomas Francis Meaghar on horseback is situated between the Mall and the Quay in the city.

Described as one of Ireland's and Waterford greatest heroes, Meagher died in America after fighting in the US.

The sculpture is by artist Catherine Greene and replaces one of Luke Wadding, which has been moved to nearby Greyfriars.
