Call to improve relations with Travellers

There has been a renewed call for the Government to take the lead in building better relationships between Travellers and the settled community.

In a statement this morning, national Traveller organisations, including Pavee Point, acknowledged that some Travellers are involved in anti-social behaviour.

But spokesman Martin Collins said the whole community should not be blamed, and called on the Government to respond to a reconciliation initiative which he said was proposed a year ago.
