Seven more people have died in a heatwave in Bangladesh, bringing the death toll to 42 in the past week.
Meteorologists have predicted there will be no relief from the heat in the next few days.
The highest recorded temperature this season in Bangladesh was 41.4 Celsius last week in a northwestern district, but the temperature eased yesterday by over four degrees.
Bangladeshis are awaiting the start of the monsoon season for relief from the scorching heat, which is made worse by high humidity.
The country has seen an increase in heat-related illnesses, particularly diarrhoea, and power outages.
Close to 800 people have died in neighbouring India from a heatwave over the past month.
