Coláiste Mhuire, the all-Irish school in Parnell Square, Dublin, will move to different premises after Christmas due to the state of the current building. The move may not happen until March 2003.
The primary school, Gaelscoil Coláiste Mhuire, is moving to other premises in the Parnell Square area.
The school authorities and the Department of Education have been looking for alternative premises for some time because of the dilapidated state of the present listed building.
A statement from the Department says that last February they requested the school authorities to vacate the premises at the earliest opportunity.
Since then the Department and the school board have examined three possible sites for temporary locations, but all were deemed unsuitable.
Recently a site has been identified in Cabra, and the Department is working to ensure that the temporary accommodation can be delivered there by next March.
Representatives from the school's Parents' Council say that they are very worried about the future of the school.
The site in Cabra has been leased for two years only and there is uncertainty about whether the Government will spend the €30m required for renovation of the existing building.
