Over 2,000 police officers and British Army troops have been deployed in Portadown for the annual Orange Order Drumcree Parade, which takes place tomorrow.

The Parades Commission banned the march from going down the nationalist Garvaghy Road for the fifth year running.

Army engineers constructed a barrier across the bridge below Drumcree Church this afternoon.

Assistant Chief Constable Stephen White, said police intelligence indicated that paramilitaries would stay away and that the parade would pass off peacefully.
