A former full-time official of the GAA has been remanded in custody and is to be sentenced on Thursday morning. He pleaded guilty to 21 charges of sexual assault against children at the Circuit Court in Monaghan today. Michael Feeney, aged 69, of Corsad, Ballybay, County Monaghan, committed the offences against eleven boys and girls between the ages of 17 and 15 years during the period 1957 to 1978.

All eleven victims of the abuse said that they wished to waive their right to be anonymous in court today. Judge Matt Deery said that he would examine victim impact statements and the evidence of the case before sentencing Mr Feeney on Thursday at 10.30am.
