Results of the post mortem examination on Nicholas O'Hare from Dundalk show that the 34-year-old died from multiple gunshots mostly concentrated on the head. The shooting is understood to be connected to the murder of Dundalk publican, Stephen Connolly, in the town three weeks ago. It is believed that Mr O'Hare was the leader of a protection racket linked to republican paramilitaries in the town. Mr O'Hare, who lived in Carroll Village, was shot four times by one of a number of men in the Church Street area of the town shortly after 10pm.
