The replica famine ship, the Jeanie Johnston, has been launched at Tralee Bay after a complex two day engineering operation in which it was moved onto a barge by a team of specialist Dutch Marine engineers. The £6 million ship had been due to be launched yesterday, but was postponed on safety grounds. It is to remain there overnight because of high winds, and will be moved to Fenit tomorrow morning for final fitting out over the next few weeks. The ship is due to sail to Canada and the United States towards the end of May.
