Defending champion and world no. 5 Lee Westwood is one shot off the lead held jointly by Swedish duo Robert Karlsson and Per-Ulrik Johansson and South African Retief Goosen after the third round of the Belgacom Open has been halted due to fading light.
Star attraction John Daly crashed out after a second round 79 and failed to make the cut, by a margin of five shots.
Both Johannsson and Goosen had five holes to complete when play was suspended with Karlsson just one hole ahead, while Westwood managed to complete 16 holes.
Four birdies in the afternoon on the testing links kept the champion him well in the hunt for the £89,000 first prize.
Five players were a shot behind Westwood on six under including Scotland's Dean Robertson, England's Jamie Spence and Wales' Mark Mouland who, at 128th in the Order of Merit, was making a brilliant last-ditch attempt to save his tour card.
Of the Irish Des Smyth and Paul McGinley are well positioned on 5-under-par and 4-under-par respectively. Darren Clarke is on 1-under while Phillip Walton has drifted to 1-over-par.
