The Garda search for the bodies of IRA victims at Bragan, Emyvale in County Monaghan has been extended. The Gardai say this is because of information received from the Commission investigating the disappearences. The site is believed to contain the remains of Columba McVeigh from County Tyrone. He was abducted and murdered by the IRA in 1975.

The IRA informed the commission late last month that the graves of eight victims would be found at these locations. Gardaí halted excavations at sites in County Meath and County Wicklow last Friday after extensive searches had uncovered no signs of any remains. Three other digs are continuing.
