One hundred and fifty jobs will be lost in Clonmel in South Tipperary with the closure of an underwear manufacturing factory. The German-owned Schiesser company announced this morning it is to begin winding-down its operations in Clonmel after 33 years.
The factory is expected to close for good on April 2. One hundred and ten factory jobs are being lost, with another forty in office administration and transport.
The company made high quality lingerie, mainly for export. Two years ago, it closed its other factory in Carrick-on-Suir with the loss of 140 jobs.
