Tonight's live concert evokes the emotive power of the Romantic repertoire including Wagner's Flying Dutchman Overture, Brahms' emotive Third Symphony and Bruch's Violin Concerto.

Interval: The Journey of a Violin

Nancy Previs of The Blow the Dust Orchestra tells the story of a 200 year old violin, the family heirloom currently played by Carol Fox

Paul Herriott presents a concert recorded in the National Concert Hall in Dublin. From trite drinking songs which form the basis of Brahms' Academic Festival Overture to the epic sweep of Beethoven's Eroica, tonight's Lyric Concert draws on the full resources of the orchestra and includes a welcome return visit from violinist Eldbjorg Hemsing (pictured) for Dvorak's Violin Concerto in A minor.
