    Czech composer Leoš Janácek was inspired by Moravian and other Slavic folk music. This week we honour his birthdate by featuring an album in which Czech singer Iva Bittova and the Skampa Quartet present a personal interpretation of Janácek’s collection of Moravian Folk Poetry in Songs.     July 6th - 12th: Trio Mediaeval "Aquilonis"

    All this week, we’ll be listening to the latest Trio Mediaeval CD. “Aquilonis” comprises Icelandic chant, early Italian sacred songs, contemporary Swedish works, 15th-century English carols and Norwegian folk melodies; and it’s the first time the singers have accompanied themselves on instruments.
