Sound Out Sunday 30 May 2021
Tonight, we hear excerpts from a new work for voice and electronics by Gráinne Mulvey recorded with soprano Elizabeth Hilliard, Great Women - a celebration of remarkable Irish women whose fight for equality and liberation helped shape the social and political landscape. Plus, a new recording from violinist Pekka Kuusisto and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra that casts New York-based composers in a Nordic light, which includes the world premiere recording of Nico Muhly's Shrink. Inner Voices is a new album from Irish violist Laura Sinnerton, a member of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales who has worked with Hard Rain Ensemble and the Berkeley Ensemble. Tonight she performs solo works by exciting young contemporary composers that include Anselm McDonnell and Sarah Lianne Lewis. Plus a new release from John Wilson (below) and his Sinfonia of London, of his ballet score to Le Loup and orchestrated wind solos by Henri Dutilleux.
You can now hear our playlists each week on Spotify, and where possible we'll include all the music featured on the programme.
