Rossini's Adina celebrates the day that has been set aside to celebrate the wedding of the middle-aged Caliph (sung by Daniele Antonangeli) to the young Adina (sung by Rachel Kelly). In this special double-bill, Michele Spotti conducts the Chorus and Orchestra of Wexford Festival Opera.

The Metropolitan Opera New York Saturday Matinee Broadcasts 2019-20 Season 

Launched in 1931, the Met's Saturday matinee broadcasts are the longest-running continuous classical radio series in American broadcast history. The 2019-2020 season marks the 89th year of live Saturday broadcasts and will again be heard over the Toll Brothers–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network. Saturday December 14th - The Metropolitan Opera New York presents Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades 

Tchaikovsky’s eerie thriller of imperial Russia has its first performances at the Met since 2011. Tenor Yusif Eyvazov is Hermann, the fanatical gambler whose obsession with a powerful secret drives him to madness. Soprano Lise Davidsen makes her highly anticipated Met debut as his long-suffering lover, Lisa, with mezzo-soprano Larissa Diadkova as the otherworldly Countess. Baritone Igor Golovatenko is Yeletsky, baritone Alexey Markov is Tomsky, and Vasily Petrenko conducts the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus. (Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades. Saturday December 21st - The Metropolitan Opera New York presents Verdi's Macbeth 

Soprano Anna Netrebko created a sensation when she made her Met role debut as Lady Macbeth in 2014, opposite baritone Željko Lucic in the title role. Now, the two stars reunite to reprise their acclaimed portrayals in Verdi’s gripping Shakespeare adaptation. Marco Armiliato conducts the Metropolitan orchestra and chorus and a standout cast that also features tenor Matthew Polenzani as Macduff and bass Ildar Abdrazakov as Banquo, in Adrian Noble’s evocative production.
