Aedín marks the 60th birthday of director Tim Burton this week with music from a selection of his films including Beetlejuice, Batman, Alice in Wonderland and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street . Music too from Star Wars: The last Jedi and hit songs from Dumbo, High Society, West Side Story, Gypsy, The Little Mermaid and Oklahoma!
The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel follows the tragic romance of carousel barker Billy Bigelow and mill worker Julie Jordan. The show features a catalogue of much loved musical-theatre standards including If I Loved You, Soliloquy, What’s the Use of Wonderin'? and You’ll Never Walk Alone. The original production opened on Broadway on April 19, 1945. This afternoon Aedín checks out the brand new 2018 Broadway cast recording that features Jessie Mueller as Julie Jordan, Joshua Henry as Billy Bigelow (photo Julieta Cervantes) and opera star Renee Fleming as Nettie Fowler. On the movies front, music from two classic Hitchcock films, Rebecca and Dial M for Murder and the music of Dario Marianelli from Pride and Prejudice and Darkest Hour.
