Saturday August 18th

Aedin includes a number this afternoon from the 2015 musical Something Rotten! Set in 1595, it tells the story of two brothers who struggle to find success in the theatrical world, as they compete with the wild popularity of their contemporary William Shakespeare. Favourite songs too from Enchanted, South Pacific, Into the Woods and George M. And we travel out west with Brokeback Mountain and The Big Country, to France with Amelie and classic film music from North by Northwest and The 39 Steps.

Saturday August 25th - Movies and Musicals remembers Leonard Bernstein

Today marks the centenary of the birth of composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein and to mark the occasion, Aedín features a concert of the great composer's music, 'Leonard Bernstein 100'. Recorded at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by John Wilson, our soloists are regular John Wilson collaborators Kim Criswell, Scarlett Strallen, Julian Ovenden and Nadim Naaman. The concert includes excerpts from On the Town, Wonderful Town, West Side Story and Bernstein's soundtack from On the Waterfront.
