Sunday June 7th
'The Mighty Handful may sound like a group of superheroes, but they're actually five of the great Russian composers who lived in the 19th century. We'll find out more about them on Sunday and hear music including the Polovtsian Dances by Borodin and Night on a Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky. We'll also hear choral music by the composer Eric Whitacre, who records singers all over the world to perform in his virtual choir!
Sunday June 14th
We'll hear ballet music by Glazunov written for The Seasons on Sunday, including a chilly dance written for Winter, Hail and Snow, a gentle Springtime tune, a Summer Waltz of the Cornflowers and the Poppies and a wild dance to celebrate Autumn! We'll also spend some time at the opera, to hear part of Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel.
