Music for three princesses this morning - one with very long hair, one who loved to sleep and one who travelled about in a pumpkin! Plus the story of The Little Fiddle!

    Sunday May 24th
When Puccini was quite young he went to hear an opera by Verdi and decided right then, that he would be a great composer too. Puccini went on to write some of the world's favourite operas and we'll hear why on Sunday morning, with music that includes a chorus that you hum! We'll also hear two very different pieces played on the violin, the beautiful Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams and a Pizzicato Polka by Johann Strauss II.

    Sunday May 31st
After overhearing his sister’s piano lessons, Mexican composer Manuel Ponce went straight to the piano and played her pieces by ear, without ever having had a lesson himself. His parents sent the musical prodigy to a teacher of his own, and we'll hear some of the music he wrote for the guitar on Sunday morning. We'll also hear the story of Babar the Elephant with music by Francis Poulenc, beautifully read by Meryl Streep.
