After three years, a new hotel has been named the best spot in Ireland by Condé Nast Traveller.

The Marker, the striking geometric hotel hugging Grand Canal Dock, has been voted the number one hotel in Ireland for the first time in the 2021 Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards, knocking Dublin's The Westbury hotel from its top spot after three years.

Best known for its glamorous rooftop bar that overlooks Dublin's "Silicon Docks", the hot spot has been a highlight of Dublin's nightlife and hotel scene since it opened, and seems to have boomed in popularity in the last year.

The awards take place each year, with the magazine inviting readers to vote on their favourite spots, and is always a swoon-worthy round up of the most stunning locations around the world.

For lovers of travel and a strong sense of wanderlust, the Condé Nast Traveller reader's choice awards are one of the most important benchmarks for hospitality, as well as the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry.

More than 800,000 Conde Nast Traveler readers submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe to provide a full snapshot about the places they can't wait to return to next. The Readers' Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry.

And now is the perfect time for some inspiration, as friends, families and couples get a chance to catch up on birthdays, weddings, celebrations and trips "just because".

The Marker Hotel is a go-to hotspot for Dubliners and travellers alike, and is known for its sublime cocktails served on the sleek rooftop terrace. Add that to the minimal and plush guest rooms, the serene spa and the fact that it's located just minutes from the very centre of the city, and it's no surprise it's emerged at the most popular hotel with Condé Nast readers.

Coming in at no. 2 on the list is Donegal's Lough Eske Castle, a breathtaking destination and the county's only 5-star hotel. Nestled within a 43 acre wooded estate hugging the shores of Lough Eske, the castle sits at the base of the Bluestack Mountains and is just ten minutes' drive from Donegal Town.

Speaking about the vote, Dónal Cox, General Manager of Lough Eske Castle said: "It's a great honour to be recognised as one of the top ten hotels in Ireland by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler Magazine for the fourth year running.

"This is a true reflection of the dedication and hard work the team at the castle have showcased over the last few years, especially in such challenging times for our industry. We strive to continually provide the best of Donegal hospitality to our guests and look forward to welcoming you all to Lough Eske Castle."

Rounding out the top three was Ballyfin in Co. Laois, a stunning 5-star country house set at the foot of the Slieve Bloom mountains. With stately guest rooms, sprawling grounds and plenty of activities to keep guests occupied, it's no wonder it ranked so highly.
