You've heard of hot girl summer, get ready for windblown celeb summer.

Just as the country recovers from the arrival of Matt O'Damon last year, a bevy of fresh celebrity faces have landed on our shores in the past few months.

Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks has offered a charming but – to locals – totally realistic glimpse into summer in Ireland, sharing snaps from her day trips around the country. In a post from the weekend, Banks, in a yellow jumper, shorts and straw sunhat, wrote: "Today marks the second time I've worn shorts in Ireland", with the hashtag #irishsummer.

The weather hasn't stopped the star from having a better staycation than most of us, though, as she and her husband Max Handelman took in the sights at the Cliffs of Moher. The breathtaking cliffs in Co. Clare are one of the go-to destinations on the Wild Atlantic Way, so it's no wonder the couple stopped by.

Sharing a reel of the dramatic location, with the typical overcast sky and vibrant green fields, Banks wrote: "It's like Big Sur but with Irish weather." She followed up with another selfie of herself and her husband with the hashtag #irishspam.

Her followers were immediately charmed, but it was the Irish ones that rushed to either reassure her of the beauty of the country, or joke about the shocking weather. "It would be a grand country if we could put a roof on it Elizabeth", one follower wrote, while another said, "Have you even really been to the Cliffs of Moher if it's not raining?"

Summing up any Irish person's reactions to blow-ins, however, was one follower who said, "Ahhh welcome to my country!! Sorry about the weather".

But Banks wasn't the only star embracing the great outdoors on the Emerald Isle this weekend, as Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey – McDreamy himself and 2021's Matt Damon – continues his whistle stop tour of Ireland.

Dempsey has only been in the country two months, as he films the sequel to Disney's Enchanted, Disenchanted, in Enniskerry Co. Wicklow. Having already visited Burdocks in Dublin, Victoria Hill in Killiney and Powerscourt Waterfall, Dempsey hit the trails this weekend, visiting two of the most popular hiking locations in the country.

In a post on Instagram, the star shared a photo from atop Sugarloaf Mountain in Co. Wicklow, saying, "Climbed Sugarloaf. It has been calling me and today I answered! haha". Just two days later, he added a moody black and white shot of Bray Head Cross, the viewpoint that greets all walkers and hikers that scale Bray Head.

With this kind of endorsement, Dempsey is fast becoming the celebrity of the moment in Ireland, so all we can ask is: have you really had a hot girl summer if you don't have a selfie with McDreamy?
