Showing that birds undoubtedly have the best view of things, the first Aerial Photography Awards asked photographers to get inventive and take their best shot from the skies – via drones, kites, plane, helicopters and even balloon.

The prize? Well, $10,000 was up for grabs, but the spoils are really ours. Here are some of our favourite images from amongst the finalists…
