In times of stress, do you find yourself daydreaming of dropping it all, running a small bookshop somewhere quiet and peaceful and spending your days on white sandy beaches?

Turns out there's a job for that, and they're hiring.

Ultimate Library, a company that creates bespoke book collections for hotels and companies, is collaborating with Soneva Fushi, a 5-star luxury resort in the Baa Atoll in the Maldives, to find a "barefoot bookseller" for their bookshop by the beach.

Originally launched to promote reading for leisure on the island resort, the pop-up bookshop has become a beloved part of the destination, evoking Robinson Crusoe-esque feelings of tranquility, adventure and - yes - lots and lots of reading.

On the island of Kunfunadhoo sits the minute pop-up bookshop, a curved hut with thatched roof and banked on all sides by white sand, and the place of work for one lucky person for six months, starting in October.

The successful applicant will have one month of pre-training with the Ultimate Library team before jetting off to the Maldives to join the Soneva team on their blissful beachy enclave. Once there, they'll be expected to get stuck into the job, running the bookshop, running its social media accounts, writing monthly blog posts about their experiences and more.

They'll also have the chance to dive into island life, mingling with guests of the resort through literary seminars, creative writing workshops, bibliotherapy and tutoring, as well as any other initiative they want to start.

Naturally, any applicant must be a complete bibliophile, eager to share as many stories as they gather, and should have an "in-depth knowledge of both classical and modern literature".

Even better, for prospective Irish applicants, you'll be in good company as the second barefoot bookseller was Irish woman, Aimée Jay, who managed the bookish boutique from March to May. The deadline closes on 1st September and you can apply here

So, what are you waiting for? As Henry David Thoreau wrote,  "If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours".
