Offering a blend of 313bhp and 41mpg-plus capability, the new high-performance SUV is available to order now, priced at €74,350 OTR.

Six years after the Audi R10 made history on the circuit as the first ever sports prototype to win at Le Mans under TDI power, the new SQ5 TDI high-performance SUV is about to post another milestone as the first ever diesel-fuelled 'S' model.

The SQ5 TDI uses the latest 3.0-litre, V6 BiTDI engine with 313bhp and 650nm of torque.

An eight-speed tiptronic automatic transmission delivers power via a quattro all-wheel-drive chassis.

0-100km/h takes just 5.1 seconds and on to a governed 250km/h top speed.

With the help of innovative thermal management, the engine start-stop system and a regulated oil pump, it also delivers up to 41.5mpg and has a CO2 output of 179g/km.

Orna Conway, General Manager of Product and Marketing at Audi Ireland, said: "The Q5 has been number one in its segment in Ireland since its launch in 2008 and with the SQ5 we merge a winning model with industry-leading technology gleaned from Audis dominance in performance diesel racing in LeMans.

"We are sure this unbeatable combination will appeal to Audi customers."
