Cooling down after a workout session is just as important as the workout itself. It stretches out the muscles (which contract, or tighten, when we exercise), brings our heart rate and blood pressure down gradually and returns our body to a resting state.

Cooldown stretches should always be performed in a slow and controlled manner, they should never cause pain or excessive discomfort. Work within your own range of movement. Breathe deeply during each stretch, and transition gently into and out of each position.
