In this four-part documentary series, David Puttnam, Ireland’s Digital Champion, travels around Ireland on a mission to get citizens connected, with some help along the way from Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh and others. Making Ireland Click explores the need for every citizen to be digitally literate as Ireland’s National Broadband Plan aims to deliver high-speed broadband to every home in the country.
We caught up with David to ask him how the project began and how he got involved.
I'd been arguing for a while that we kind of had to define where we are. I'd been doing the job for four years. I thought we were covering all sorts of ground, but we actually had not, in a coherent sense, set out the stall in terms of non-liners, hadn't set out the stall in terms of education, small businesses and I'm not sure I ever particularly articulated it as being a series of four themed documentaries but that's what it emerged as. So it was me pushing for the fact that we had to define ourselves and the answer coming back was 'yes' and 'Adrian and Wild Fire have been commissioned to make four documentaries!'
