With just less than a week to go, the country is gearing up for one of the biggest events on Ireland's calendar: the Ploughing Championships 2016!
Taking place this year in Tullamore, County Offaly, we are sure to be in for another year of food, farming, and wellies!
What do Nicky Byrne, Rob and Dave Kearney, Nuala Carey, Ryan Tubridy, Marty Morrissey, Joe Duffy and Áine Lawlor all have in common? They’re all part of RTÉ’s action-packed line up at the 85th National Ploughing Championships, which takes place in Screggan, Tullamore from 20th to 22nd September. With live radio and television broadcasts, a host of musical performances, live weather bulletins and exclusive events with well-known presenters, visitors to the RTÉ set will have much to explore at the Ploughing 2016.
RTÉ will be covering the event live, with Marty Morrissey and Áine Lawlor presenting all the action of the three days, starting Tuesday 20th September at 7pm, RTÉ One. If you want to see them live in action, they will be broadcasting from the RTÉ Stand, Block 2, Row 13, Stand 302.
Marty and Áine will be joined by celebrity guests including country stars Derek Ryan and Cliona O’Hagan stopping by studio for a song and a chat; and singing sensation Marty Mone, whose song Hit the Diff has over three million hits on YouTube, will be revealing his new track that he written exclusively for the 85th Ploughing Championships.
To give you a teaser of what to expect, here's a taste of what happened last year:
Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh stepped into the ring to give us the backstage gossip. Last year we had Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh giving RTE Lifestyle a tour of the National Ploughing Championships.
While this national event may be focused on farming and agriculture, that doesn't mean that romance isn't involved. Last year saw RTÉ's Nuala Carey becoming the object of affection of one farmer in particular.
Bláthanid and Nuala weren't the only familiar faces down there as Nicky Byrne and Jenny Greene caught a taste of the action.
As September and the harvest season draw to a close, Ploughing Live will bring you all the magic of this special event Tuesday to Thursday, 20th – 22nd September on RTÉ One at 7pm.
