Herrings in Oatmeal

A crunchy fish recipe that makes for alight and tasty meal.


  • 4 herrings
  • 75 g coarse oatmeal
  • sea salt and black pepper
  • 50 g butter (mixed with 1 tablespoon olive oil)


  1. Clean and gut the herrings.
  2. Mix the oatmeal with plenty of sea salt and black pepper, coat the herrings with this mixture.
  3. Melt the bacon fat in a pan and fry the herrings until they are crisp and brown.
  4. Serve with lemon wedges and garnish with parsley.
