Budget Busters – Mother’s Day

This week we’re looking at some great value-for-money Mother’s Day gifts, whether it’s chocolates, bubbly, flowers, a gorgeous pre-made family dinner or better still a great value dinner out on the town!


Life is like a box of chocolates
The special way to a busy mums’ heart are the brownie points that come all wrapped up in a box…These Deluxe Belgian Mini Pralines  are available for just €1.99 in Lidl plus there are many other varieties on offer.

Aldi also have a great range of chocolates including these  Specially Selected Handcrafted Chocolate Ballotin (€4.99 each).   This beautifully wrapped box is filled with an assortment of luxury handmade Irish chocolates that chocoholic mums won’t be able to resist and neither will anyone else! Plus their multi award-winning Philippe Michel Crémant Du Jura Sparkling Chardonnay , at just €9.99, is the ideal treat on the day, promising a subtle blend of crisp citrus notes mixed with the chardonnay grapes.

Marks & Spencer are determined to make it a Mother’s Day for all the family to remember as they are offering fine dining at home! They have a Family Roast for Four on offer for €20 from now until Sunday March 18 which includes restaurant-quality main courses, side dishes, desserts and wine.

There are a number of main dishes to choose from, including succulent Ready to Roast Lamb Leg, Oakham Chicken or   Beef Joint The side dish options include Roast Potatoes, Ultimate Mash or Traditional Roasting Vegetables. Finish off with a choice of desserts, including Belgian Chocolate, Salted Caramel & Pecan Torte, Sticky Toffee Pudding or Vanilla Cheesecake. Then raise a toast to Mum with a bottle of Prosecco Frizzante or Reserve de la Saurine Red, or choose Twin Pack Grape Juice for the wee ones.
