Manifesto Restaurant, in Rathmines, Co Dublin has been named as one of the best spots for pizza in Europe by a prestigious foodie guide.

Coming in at 35th on the list, the chic spot was the only Irish location listed in the impressive list of pizzerias. 

In first place was 50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo in Westminster, London, while Paris's Bijou and Copenhagen's Bæst round out the top three in second and third place, respectfully. 

On this side of the water, Manifesto is renowned for its innovative and surprising take on traditional Italian delicacies, sourcing ingredients straight from Ireland and Italy. Its dishes are often a riot of colours and textures, while its pizzas are oven-charred, pillowy and laden with fresh ingredients.

As well as the classics like Marinara, Margherita and Neapolitana, their pizzas marry Irish and Italian influences with combinations like the U2 Irish Flag pizza, loaded with gold organic cherry tomato, mozzarella, gorgonzola and friarielli or broccoli rabe. 

Or perhaps the Don Corleone is more your style, with mozzarella, fennel pork sausage, friarielli and basil?

The restaurant is owned and led by chef Lucio Paduano, who comes from Southern Italy and is a third generation pizza chef, with his family making pizza since 1929. Since opening in 2009, it has racked up awards over the years, including a Gold Medal for World's Best Pizza and Ireland's Best Pizza at the World Pizza Championships. 

The restaurant itself is an undeniably elegant spot, with exposed brick walls, wooden beams and a smouldering wood fire oven serving up pizzas in full view of the diners and filling the room with the aroma of bubbling cheese, smoked meat and fresh dough.

The Top 50 Guide is a competitive list of the best pizzerias in Europe, and chooses winners based on surveys by over 150 esteemed inspectors, which are followed by anonymous visits to sample the goods. 

Curators of the awards include gastro scientists, culinary masters and food journalists and is highly respected within the protective and proud pizza community.
