The Dundrum Personal Style Team are there to help customers update their wardrobes with a fresh perspective.
I tried to try out the service with the lovely Personal Style Team member Wendy Crawford, who also owns the beautiful Bow Boutique in the Powerscourt Centre.
We kicked off the two-hour session, which costs €65, in the Personal Style Team Room in the Dundrum Town Centre, where Wendy found out what I wanted to achieve from the service.
The consultation was really helpful in diagnosing the issues with my current wardrobe, what I needed to tie it all together, and my budget.
I explained to Wendy that I wanted to buy more staple, classic pieces that would be suitable for both workwear and leisurewear, and to get out of the habit of buying dresses.
We then made a list of the shops I most wanted to visit - which included House of Fraser, BT2, Zara, H&M and Urban Outfitters.
Wendy had already picked out a selection of clothes for me in House of Fraser, so we made our way to the dressing room, where I tried on a selection of Topshop jeans, mixed with Whistles jumpers and blouses. We were off to a great start. I fell in love with a pair of faded black high waisted 'Mom' jeans from Topshop that I never would have tried on otherwise (which I subsequently purchased), and also discovered that cherry red was a great colour on me, again something I would not have realised.
It was a real novelty having Wendy pick out pieces for me, and she had a great knack for picking out items that I would have skimmed over on the rails, but that looked great on.
One of my favourite looks she put together was a denim shirt dress paired with pointed court heels (both Topshop) and a leather biker jacket from Whistles. I could sense already at this point that this visit could wreak havoc on my bank balance.
We made our way to Urban Outfitters next, where unfortunately nothing much caught our eyes, but we had better luck in Zara, where I found a wealth of parka jackets to try on. H&M was even more fruitful, and I tried on an eclectic mix of pieces including buttery soft leather leggings, a rocking faux fur jacket, statement sweaters with jewelling, form-hugging pencil skirts and oversized silk shirts.
Wendy had helpful tips on styling each item she had picked out, and definitely helped me to branch out from my black-on-black uniform.
This is a really fun and inspiring service that I think will appeal to a lot of people, particularly those who often impulse buy and regret purchases they've made, or have lost their sense of personal style and need guidance.
The Dundrum Personal Style service also offers customers a complimentary parking pass and a voucher for a personal makeup consultation.
