Kate Middleton might go down as the woman who made country chic truly mainstream, and in fairness she knows how to rock the trend well.

Clearly most comfortable in the outdoors and ideally engaged in some sport, the Duchess of Cambridge always knows how elevate country casual basics into looks that combine her love of the feminine, the tailored and the glamorous.

At her latest engagement, she gave a masterclass in how to do exactly that.

On a visit to Durham County with her husband Prince William, the Duke and Duchess visited Manor Farm, a fifth-generation family-run enterprise where they learned about sustainable farming and even got to grips with some of the farm tools.

While there, they spent some with with the farmers' daughters Clover, nine, Penelope, seven, and Wren, four, and their two lambs named Dumbledore and Heather. Shortly after, they took a spin on a GPS-directed tractor.

Despite getting stuck into farm life on this trip, Kate looked effortlessly polished and chic. She chose a stunning jacket by Denmark's Seeland brand – the Woodcock Advanced Jacket – a take on a classic shooting jacket and featuring pockets, a high collar and a pop of colour in the magenta lining.

She paired this with her striking Fair Isle knit jumper by Brora and Troy London, that featured a traditional pattern around the neckline in shades of red, burgundy, cream and navy.

She layered this over the Margeurite Blouse by Sézane, a stunning high-necked white lace shirt featuring a delicate scalloped collar that peeked out from beneath the woolly jumper.

With this she wore a simple pair of blue skinny jeans and her Penelope Chilvers boots, a classic design in rich brown leather and featuring a buckle at the knee.

Keeping accessories minimal, Kate paired her look with her Orelia Chain Huggie Hoop earrings, a stunning design made to look like hoops of gold chain.

Her makeup was kept simple as always, with just a nude lip, strong brows and subtle eye shadow.
