The A-listers were out in force at the Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony and put on a suitably glamorous display, with standout looks including Anne Hathaway's glitzy gold Atelier Versace gown and Zendaya’s daring Tom Ford breastplate.

Beauty wise, the stars mostly kept it classic, with the biggest trend of the night being a bold red lip.

But this wasn't a one size fits all trend – make-up artists tailored their clients’ shades and opted for both matte and gloss finishes, proving there’s a rouge for everyone, and every outfit.

Want to know which hue is for you? Here are four stars who rocked a red lip, and how to recreate their look…

Saoirse Ronan

Little Women star Saoirse Ronan was a vision in Erdem, with Chanel make-up artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua taking inspiration from the actor’s red and white floral gown to create a glossy pink eye, teamed with a true red lip.

The lipstick she used was Chanel Rouge Allure in shade 837 Rouge Spectaculaire which has a satin finish.

Greta Gerwig

Greta Gerwig, who directed Little Women, also went with a juicy-looking red lip, created by Dior make-up artist Sabrina Bedrani.

We think Bedrani used Dior Rouge Dior Ultra Care in 635 Ecstase, a brick red with a satin finish.

Awkwafina

Best actress nominee Awkwafina donned a flowing marigold gown by Elie Saab, which make-up artist Kirin Bhatty teamed with an orange-toned red lip.

We think Bhatty chose Dior Rouge Dior Ultra Care Liquid in 749 D-light to create this bright matte look.

Cynthia Erivo

British actor and singer Cynthia Erivo opted for a diffused matte red tone to complement her beaded Fendi gown, which she described on Instagram as ‘stain glass realness’.

Make-up artist Terrell Mullin used a combination of two Armani Beauty liquid lipsticks on Erivo, starting with a base of Lip Magnet in 402 Fil Rouge then adding a touch of Lip Maestro in 300 Flesh in the centre of the lip.
