Jen Connell will be trying all the best treatments and reporting back to let you know what's worth investing in on your big day (or nig night out). From facials and body wraps, to everything in between. You might love natural skin or a bronzed glow, subtle makeup or ALL the glamour. Either way, Jen has you covered.

When it comes to brows and lashes, is it the bigger the better or a more subtle look you seek? Lash and brow artists are everywhere so it can be near impossible to figure out where you should spend your hard-earned cash. I went on the hunt for the best lash and brow pros out there, so you don't have to.

1. Christoph Couture

The treatment: Lash extensions

The prices: Light volume €100 | Medium volume €120 | Full volume €150 |

Upkeep: Christoph recommends refills every 3-4 weeks

The locations: Clayton Hotel, Cardiff Lane | Mask Hair, Grafton St | Gresham House, Dublin 1

Celebrity makeup artist and eyelash extension technician Christoph works across three convenient locations in Dublin city centre, all open late. So, he is ideal for gals trying to squeeze in their beauty appointments after work. Christoph offered to create a bespoke look for me and I was seriously impressed.

The lashes he used were very fine silk, so I could achieve length and the winged cat-eye shape I was looking for without too much weight. Perfect for a soft and natural bridal look and at one hour, it was the most efficient lash appointment I've ever had.

2. Lyndsey Cavanagh - One Dame Lane

The treatment: LVL Lash Lift

The prices: LVL Lash Lift €55 | Mink Lash Extensions €98 | Henna Brows €48

Upkeep: Lyndsey recommends top-ups every 8-12 weeks

The location: One Dame Lane, Dublin 2

One Dame Lane is a seriously gorgeous space to get pampered, especially for interior enthusiasts like myself! It's also conveniently connected to The Hive hair salon so it's perfect if you're looking for a one-stop-shop.  Lyndsey is a professional makeup artist who specialises in editorial, bridal and commercial makeup for celebs and TV.

Another string to her bow is her lash and brow artistry. I tried the LVL lash lift which involves dying and essentially perming the lashes. Lyndsey brought me through the process after a consultation to figure out what look I was trying to achieve.

I opted for black dye rather than brown for my lashes and a lift rather than curl, to open the eyes. I was really pleased with the results. The final look was natural looking lifted lashes, without the need for mascara. This option is perfect for brides who don't want to go the lash extension route.

3. The Lash Lounge

The treatments: Lash Extensions and Bellamianta Spray Tan

The prices: Mink Lashes Full Set €100 | Russian/Hollywood Volume €170 | Bellamianta tan €30

Upkeep: Alana recommends refills every 3 weeks

The location: Taylor's Lane, Rathfarnham

I booked in with the owner of The Lash Lounge, Alana Miley for lash extensions for my hen party, and they also offered a spray tan so I thought, 'why not?'. I lay patiently on a very comfortable bed as Alana expertly applied the lashes. After an hour and a half, I was left with extremely fluffy lashes.

Alana went for a classic lash look, which was perfect for my hen and for every day. She also recommended I opt for a hybrid set if I wanted more volume for my big day. Hybrid is a mix of classic lashes and Russian/Hollywood volume. I am really looking forward to trying this look as I'm leaning more towards the glam look rather than natural for my own bridal look.

Now, I don't normally wear tan as I'm happy to embrace my pale Irish skin but I thought I would give it a try. My main concerns with fake tan are the undertones and streakiness, but I needn't have worried. The Bellamianta spray tan application was incredibly quick and after rinsing it off the next morning in the shower, I was left with a flawless, natural-looking tan that lasted almost a full week and faded perfectly without the need for scrubbing.

My favourite aspect was the shade, it replicated the colour my skin naturally turns in the sun - a golden colour with olive undertones. I think I've found a new addiction!

4. Laura Ward, Michele Montgomery Studios

The treatments: HD Brows

The price: €40

Upkeep: Laura recommends top-ups every 4 weeks

The location: Michele Montgomery Studios, Windy Arbour

Laura is a professional make up artist working out of Michele Montgomery Studios in Windy Arbour. She also does HD brows. I discovered Laura on Treatwell and after checking out her Instagram profile and seeing the stunning photos of brows she has created, I booked in my first appointment.

I don't have very full brows naturally so I have always just groomed them myself with tweezers, a brow pencil, and clear brow gel. Laura started by marking out the ideal shape for my brows, then waxed and thread and finally applied the dye. After a few minutes, she removed the dye and revealed a perfectly groomed pair of brows. I'm honestly converted and have been back several times since. It makes getting ready in the morning incredibly quick as I now need only a tiny amount of brow product before heading out the door.

Handy tips for selecting your lash and brow artists and getting the most from your treatment.

  1. Check out their Instagram account first to see their work.
  2. Ensure they have lots of good reviews.
  3. Arrive to your lash appointment with no eye makeup on.
  4. Make sure to have a consultation first to make sure you get the look you desire.
  5. Follow the after-care recommendations from your artists. You will have to avoid water around the eye area for 24-48 hrs after your lash extensions are applied and gently brush through your lashes daily with a spool (the artists should provide this).
