Some of the most stylish women in Ireland descended on Ballybrit as Day Four of the Galway Races - better known as Ladies Day - kicked off in a riot of colour, feathers and flowers.

The race grounds were a sea of dazzling ensembles, with the theme "Fun, fresh and different" calling for the very best in unique, playful and eye-catching fashions. And with two women from Galway taking home the top two prizes, it was a great day for the parish.

The winner of the Best Dressed title went to Pamela Uba from Salthill, elegant in a one-shoulder dove grey jumpsuit by Phoenix V and hat by Galway milliner Laura Hanlon, a striking blush pink teardrop-shaped creation.

For her impeccable outfit, the medical scientist won a trip to the Seychelles and €3,000.

Eileen Lundon from Gort nabbed the prize for Best Hat, wowing in a glamourous full-brimmed woven hat embellished with swirling coral red details.

The judges had their work cut out for them with ever more adventurous and dazzling looks being presented each year. They included broadcaster Síle Seoige, nutritionist and former model, Rosanna Davison, fashion blogger Ciara Doherty and Her.ie's Gillian Fitzpatrick.

RTÉ's own Siún Ní Dhuinn and trawled the crowds looking for the most stylish guys and gals in Galway with Eoghan Ó Loideáin for RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, looking very swish themselves!
