In an interview with the Metro newspaper, the super model said: “On one hand, I have this strange, amazing, interesting job as a model on the other, I am a photographer. They complement each other well.”

Having been in the industry for a number of decades, the 44-year-old is more than familiar with what makes a good photograph and has taken some beautiful photos of some famous friends including Sophie Dahl and Kate Bosworth.

Discussing why she loves photography Christensen said: “I am still amazed you can capture one second of life and keep it forever.”

She added: “I still sit with my grandma and look through all the photos she glued in her album over the years. Photography has been important in a fundamental way throughout my life.”

Since 2010, Christensen has also been using her photography for a good cause and has been working with Oxfam to photograph its climate change initiatives in places such as Nepal, Peru and Africa.

Speaking about her work with the charity she said: “It’s an enormous privilege to go on a trip like that and, because I travel with Oxfam, I learned so much.”

In fact, the Danish model is enjoying her photography work so much that she has not ruled out making it a full-time career.

She explained: “If it continues the way it’s going, then that is probably the direction I’m going in. But then who would blow-dry my hair? I only have it blown when I’m at work.”
