Aisling? directed by Darach Mac Con Iomaire is a contemporary look at the struggle of the Gaeltacht to survive through newly commissioned music, dance, literature and art.

Featuring some of the Gaeltacht's most prolific artists, musicians and dancers, leithéidí Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Méabh Ní Bheaglaoích, Johnny Óg Connolly, Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhríde, Ciarán Ó Maonaigh agus neart eille, Aisling? brings audiences on a powerful and evocative journey, told through music, poetry and contemporary dance.

Aisling? examines how our Gaeltacht regions inspired the leaders of the Rising in 1916; their cultural and economic demises as the new state abandoned rural Ireland through the doldrums of the 40’s and 50’s, the emergence of the Gaeltacht Civil Rights Movement in 1969, and then onward to the present day, where much of what was demanded then has been achieved, but one question remains: 'Is this enough?' And where do we go from here?

Aisling? - A Powerful Story of the Gaeltacht is at The Olympia Theatre, Dublin, on Fri 28th September. Tickets from €23.50 incl. booking fee & €1 restoration levy on sale anois anseo
