For years people have looked across the Atlantic to labels like Dischord, Polyvinyl, Deep Elm, Kill Rock Stars and Teenbeat as the academies for all that's good and interesting about underground bands.
But they in turn could look to Limerick's Out on a Limb Records for a band - indeed bands - to grace their rosters.
The poppiest outfit Out on a Limb has ever signed, Hooray for Humans take their inspiration from that quirky indie sound that US outfits do so well - and at their best are every bit as endearing as the big names.
The boy/girl vocals, air punch choruses and dance-enticing arrangements of 'Signature' and the standout 'Pimptacious' connect instantly, and could give even those who like their music played by people with furrowed brows a greater appetite for sweetness.
All this and they've only been together a little over a year - another album and another 12 months and listeners' smiles could be even wider.
