Mercury – 2002 – 39 minutes

Growing up is hard to do but while their fans may struggle, in the space of a year-and-a-half Sum 41 seem to be making a decent job of it. A big move forward from their breakthrough album 'All Filler No Killer', '...Infected' has a shoutier, harder edge than its predecessor and more memorable tracks than last time 'round.

They're still all about sub three minute blasts, screwball humour and nods to old school metal, but 'My Direction' and 'Still Waiting' do justify their status as pop punk's biggest players. Sum's first big hit single, 'Fat Lip', is now apparently the most used - and annoying - ringtone available. The good/bad news is that there's plenty here to take its place.
