Rafferty delivers some shocking news in Sunday's Fair City on RTÉ One and the RTÉ Player.
The drama begins when project manager Maxine agrees to do co-worker Damien a favour - and no good deed goes unpunished.
Later, a shaken Rafferty arrives back at the site.
"What's the matter with you?" asks Damien.
"It's Maxine," Rafferty replies. "She was in an accident."
