Ireland's Garden Heroes, 8.30pm, RTÉ One

The second episode of this new series for RTÉ One reveals the hard work and imagination people have put into their gardens across the island.

Each week, three amateur gardeners open their gates to the show's experts - horticulturalist Jimi Blake, garden designer Niall Maxwell and landscape designer Ingrid Swan.

The experts will assess the plants, the design, the functionality, and the feel of the garden before ultimately choosing a winner. Each episode will have an individual winner, and they will become one of Ireland's Garden Heroes.

In the early spring of 1944 Charles Ryder, a disillusioned army Captain, arrives at Brideshead Castle, the new Brigade Headquarters.

It's a place he knows well and he is transported back in time to 1922 and his first meeting with Sebastian Flyte, the younger son of Lord Marchmain.

Charles Ryder proceeds to tell in flashback the story of his association with the castle and the doomed aristocratic Flyte family.

Followed at 10.05pm by Face to Face, where John Freeman faced Evelyn Waugh for an interview in 1960.

Yorkshire Firefighters, 8.00pm, BBC Two
The first of four episodes in this new documentary series as viewers are promised they "will be brought closer than ever before to real-life emergencies, seeing inside burning buildings and getting to the heart of the action".

Episode one begins as the crews of West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service brace themselves for Bonfire Night. Soon enough, 100 firefighters and 17 fire engines are called out to one of their biggest jobs in years - "as 600,000 tyres catch fire and bring Bradford city centre to a halt with potentially toxic fumes".
