The Late Late Toy Show takes centre stage tonight, but there's also a documentary about comic legend John Belushi, Mariah Carey’s on The Graham Norton Show, Virgin River’s back for a second season, and Brave New World comes to an end . . .

Pick of the Day

The Late Late Toy Show, 9.35pm, RTÉ One

Ryan Tubridy kicks-off Christmas 2020 with what promises to be a festive extravaganza like never seen before, bringing joy, toy-testing, performances - and the customary dodgy jumpers.

There won’t be an audience, but the planning for this show started months ago with the intention of bringing a bit of festive cheer to what’s been a pretty miserable year.

RTÉ Entertainment will be following the show, so log on here to add to the fun.

Don't Miss

Belushi, 9.00pm, Sky Documentaries & NOW TV

Filmakers RJ Cutler and John Battsek (Listen to Me Marlon) present a feature-length documentary on the life and times of comic legend John Belushi.

He was just 33 when he died in 1982, from combined drug intoxication at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles.

For the first time, Belushi’s widow Judith Belushi Pisano will open up about her life with the late comedian and share exclusive and never seen before photographs from her private collection.

This promises to be a deep and three-dimensional look into the life of a man of great complexity and talent who went on to become a comedy icon.

New or Returning Shows

Murder in Amish Country, 9.00pm, Sky Crime & NOW TV

Murders of any kind are thankfully rare events within the peaceful and reserved Amish and Anabaptist communities that are scattered across the United States.

When they do occasionally occur, investigating detectives soon find out that solving them is unlike working any other kind of case. As one cop put it: "It was easier getting information from the Mob than from the Amish."

Murder in Amish Country tells the true stories of homicide investigations in this unfamiliar world, where witnesses are notoriously distrustful of outsiders - even the police - and where justice is often dealt with internally.

Reel Stories: Rod Stewart, 9.00pm, BBC Four

Dermot O'Leary sits down with the legendary Rod Stewart (above) to find out what makes the superstar tick.

From Abbey Road to the Albert Hall, Motown to Maggie May - Dermot takes Rod back to his childhood cinema to relive moments from a career spanning six decades.

In previous episodes, Reel Stories has taken a front row seat with the likes of Kylie Minogue and Noel Gallagher, but this time the time capsule is going all the way back to the swinging sixties.

New to Stream

Virgin River: Season 2, Netflix

Engagement. Babies. Heartbreak. Murder. For a small town, Virgin River has its fair share of drama - and Mel Monroe is often in the middle of it.
