Dublin-based songwriter and producer Richey McCourt has produced What You Want, the new track by pop duo Rooue. We asked him the BIG questions . . .

Having begun his career in guitar bands at the age of 15, Richey went on to share stages with Shane Filan, Nik Kershaw, and Olly Murs.

He then dedicated himself completely to the recording studio and has worked with artists including Will Young, Pixie Lott, Rebecca Ferguson, and Rita Ora.

Tell us three things about yourself?

I love music, I'm a Dad, and I am officially a synth-head nerd.

How would you describe your music?

Diverse! I've written pop, folk, rock, classical, you name it. I am whatever the opposite of a music snob is. I love all of it.

This changes on a week to week basis, but right now I'm loving Haim's new album and also loving what Denise Chaila is doing too.

How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?

Writing, writing, writing - and getting the studio set up for recording remotely, for the foreseeable future.
