Netflix has shared the first photos from The Prom, Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy's adaptation of the Broadway musical comedy, which stars Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman.

All-singing, all-dancing

Kidman and Streep are joined by James Corden, Keegan-Michael Key, Andrew Rannells, Ariana DeBose, Kerry Washington, Jo Ellen Pellman and Tracey Ullman in the much-anticipated movie, which premieres on Netflix on Friday, December 11.

The Prom tells the story of four Broadway performers (played by Streep, Kidman, Corden and Rannells) who think they can revive their careers by travelling to a conservative small town in Indiana to support Emma (newcomer Pellman), a lesbian student who is not allowed bring her girlfriend Alyssa (DeBose) to the high school prom.

"But when their self-absorbed celebrity activism unexpectedly backfires, the foursome find their own lives upended as they rally to give Emma a night where she can truly celebrate who she is."

Director Murphy's new series, the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest prequel Ratched, is currently streaming on Netflix.
