New Orleans' Melissa Guion aka MJ Guider has just released her new album, Sour Cherry Bell. We ask her the BIG questions...

Tell us three things about yourself?
I don't put anything in my coffee, have a dog named Peter, and once by chance bought some boots from Alannah Myles of Black Velvet fame. She was really lovely and graciously answered my measurement questions.

How would you describe your music?
My mother once said it reminded her of the music in Breaking Bad. I'm not sure I agree, but I'll take it.

Who are your musical inspirations?
Madonna, Messiaen, my musically gifted friends... If I were to be thorough, this list would get extremely out of hand. Besides a tonne of musicians, I get a great deal of musical inspiration from film, fiction, and visual art. I like to cast a wide net and gather inspiration from wherever I can find it.

How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?
I know a lot of people took the opportunity to make art and be productive, but I wasn't feeling very inspired for the first several months. It took a while for me to get back to feeling any creative motivation. Eventually, I started working on some remixes and a music video I'd been scheming for a while, which nudged me back into the headspace of wanting to make things again.

What's your favourite song right now?
I've had this Gavsborg/Shanique Marie track Overboard stuck in my head for weeks:

Favourite lyric of all time?
A huge portion of my memory is consumed by song lyrics. Most of it isn't all that inspiring or poetic, but there are a few especially gifted lyricists whose words really get under my skin, like the late Trish Keenan of Broadcast. One of my favorite lines is from their song Until Then:

"If you think nothing is yours
And if I think everything belongs to me
How wrong I'll be
None of us have anything"

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?
If that was my reality I'd probably enjoy a lot of silence, but I'd also like to occasionally hear this for sentimental reasons:
