Tipperary man Declan Kelly, executive producer of this Saturday’s virtual concert One World: Together at Home, has paid tribute to Lady Gaga, who is curating the all-star music event. 

Mr. Kelly who is head of US-based communications company Teneo and who hails from Portroe in Nenagh, is a key figure in the global event, which features an A-list line-up including Paul McCartney, Elton John and Celine Dion.

Speaking to RTÉ News, he said, "It helps to have Lady Gaga as your partner in this initiative. She has been great to work with and has played a tremendous role in getting an awful lot of the artists to participate.

"Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, The Killers, Taylor Swift and when they were asked by Lady Gaga, they all said yes."

"It will be the largest concert ever held virtually on the Internet and over many different broadcast networks around the world. We're thrilled with how it has come together and thankful for all the support we have received from the artist community around the world."

The event was launched by international advocacy organisation Global Citizen and the World Health Organization and aims to show unity among all people who are affected by COVID-19 and also celebrate and support brave healthcare workers doing life-saving work on the frontlines. 

The virtual series of gigs, featuring a who’s who of music stars, will be simulcast on RTÉ2, the RTÉ Player and RTÉ2FM on Sunday at 7.00pm.  

Taking to social media, the three Irish acts said they were delighted to be getting behind the event.
