Home and Away star Lynne McGranger, who plays Irene Roberts on the Australian soap, has downplayed the reports that she show's future could be in question, saying she hasn't heard anything about it being in jeopardy.

McGranger has played Irene for over 25 years, and the Summer Bay legend responded to tweets about reports that a ratings drop was calling the show's future into question, saying, "First I've heard of it."

She then went on to say, "I'm seeing all this stuff but I honestly have heard nothing. It may be true.... but then again I apparently was definitely leaving the Bay 18 months or so ago."

McGranger then went on to be more firm about her belief in the show's ongoing success saying, "We are not going anywhere. I turn up to work. People film me. I get paid. Pretty sure that means the show will keep going to air. AND we're 5-6 months ahead with the filming."

Further tweets from the star said, "Give me strength" accompanied by eye-roll emojis, and "Talk to the suits."

Networks Channel 5 and Seven have not addressed the speculation.
