Lesley Conroy, who plays Aoife in Fair City, has told RTÉ Entertainment that she was "a little bit shocked" when she found out who her on-screen daughter's killer was, and reveals fans are "in for a treat" with upcoming episodes.

Oisin has been the primary focus for police over the last week. In a recent episode Aoife went to extreme measures to get him to confess to killing Karen.

With Detective Inspector Yates hot on the tails of Karen's close circle, it's only a matter of time until the killer is revealed - and Lesley admits the big reveal will be worth the wait.

Speaking to RTÉ Entertainment, she said: "I'm totally drained. I go home every night and I'm absolutely exhausted. You can't skimp on it.

"You really have to go there because the audience picks up on that. They don't go along with it if you don't give it everything," she added.

Lesley says she was "a little bit shocked" when she recently received the script that disclosed who the killer was.

"There was lots of gossiping on set. It could have been any one of us. They really could have gone any way they wanted. I guess you could say it is unexpected.

"I am a little bit shocked, but then again any one of us could be in that situation, and you never know how it's going to pan out.

"I think the audience will be in for a treat and they don't have too long to wait".

The actress, who stars in upcoming zombie thriller, The Cured, alongside Sam Keeley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, says she isn't worried about letting one of the biggest secrets in Irish soap history slip out.

"I'm good at keeping secrets but it is hard. I had to keep Karen getting killed under wraps as well.

"I'm just very excited because there are some great scenes coming up. There's also a lovely relationship forming between Carol and Aoife's characters," she added.

Fair City continues on RTÉ One at 8pm on April 19.
